Peer Review Blog

We have now tried peer reviewing for the first time. We had to watch another groups film and review it. The film we watched had only one group-member. His was about him and his family going out to sea to have fun, but then he gets attacked by a shark. His film was constructed in a very good way making it easy to follow along and understand what was happening. His titles could be seen clearly and had nice transitions. I liked many things about his film like his choice of music. Also how it fit what was happening and increased the suspense. It was the perfect volume and didn't interfere with the plot. The ending of the film was great because it left me wanting more due to the cliffhanger.
Although his film was very impressive, I do have some suggestions so he can improve his film. There were three issues that I saw during the review but their minor. One was the size of the shots. When the shot switched to the scenes filled with fish and sharks the size of the shot decreased in size a little bit. This distracted from the plot a bit so I definitely think he should make it so the shots fill up the whole screen throughout the film. Then came a scene with random people kayaking through the canal. He could easily fix this issue by just reshooting it when no one is around or get an angle without them. Lastly, the shots and angles. He did not meet the requirements for them, missing at least half the shots and angles. I would say he filmed to much of the ocean and very little of the actors. Overall he did an amazing job and just has to fix some minor things.

Editing Blog: Picking and Choosing @@@@

Today was finally the day where we would put our film together. I was so excited to see how it would turned out. First we started going through all the house scenes where Leo gets the shoe box. They were mostly all the same just minor differences. Next were the scenes of him walking out the door, which wasn't hard to choose the best one at all. Then was the trunk shot scenes, there were lots and lots of these because we weren't communicating properly. Now for the park scenes.

Filming Blog: Park Scenes

Today was our second filming day. When school finished for the day we went over to one of my group-mates house. We had to get her car so we could get to our filming locations. We went to a park that was near leo and brooke's house. Leo made sure we had all our props and that we were ready to film. Since it was the second day we had to wait to film around the same time as yesterday. In the mean time we shot some extra house scenes. Then went over to the park at the perfect time. Since I was only in a few scenes I didn't have much to do but wait around. I looked through the footage to make sure that everything was good.
The first few shots involved Leo exiting the car and walking to a bench near by. We had to shoot this a few times just to make sure no one was in the background while we filmed. For the most part it was just Leo being filmed because he was the main character. Next scene was Leo and I interacting in a serious way. This involved me handing Leo an envelope with a photo. That was all we needed at the park so it was time to move on. After we still had some time left to film a bit more so we went to our friend Aaron's house who was the victim in the film. I wasn't in any of the scene so yet again I just helped with directing and waited. The only scenes we got done was of Leo stalking Aaron and sending some messages. It then started to get dark so we all left, maybe we'll finish up filming the last parts tomorrow.

Filming Blog: House Scenes

Today February 27, 2020 was finally the first day we filmed. We weren't able to film before due to numerous issues. After school finished my group and I took a ride to Leo's house and filmed our house scenes. Once we got there I changed intro my all black clothes for our film. Since Leo was the main character he was in the majority of the scenes. We all decided that Leo should wear all black because it added like a creepy vibe. After that we set up everything and started filming . We started following the scenes involving the house and the surrounding areas in chronological order. The first scene was of Leo getting his supplies and shoving them into a bag. We shot this scene a few time so when we edited we could choose the best one.

Leo got distracted easily so me and Aaron had to step out of the room so he could really focus. After filming that scenes inside the house, we moved onto outside of the house. When we were shooting the car scene, we had to do lots of takes because we were at a weird angle. After that we decided that we should add a trunk shot. We all thought this was a really good idea and it turned out great. We made sure this scene was done multiple times because this was a very important shot. I was so happy that we had good lighting because earlier it said that it was going to get cloudy. The house scenes are all we did for today but we plan on filming our other scenes during the next few days. Thankfully we got all of those scene done and are now ready to film at our other locations.
